Jonathan M. Durell

At Work: Jon graduated from Grand Valley State University in 2001, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice. After working as a police officer from 2002–2014, Jon went on to attend Thomas M. Cooley Law School from 2011–2014, where he graduated Cum Laude. During his time as a law student, Jon clerked with various law firms in general practice and personal injury, garnering experience with a broad scope of law cases.

Before joining Durellaw in 2019, Jon worked as an attorney in the public sector for four years as both a prosecutor and a staff attorney in the family court system. He then went on to work for a national law firm that practices in the area of domestic relations litigation. With over 15 years of public service under his belt, Jon learned that everyone can make the community better when they apply themselves to do so—a lesson that he carries with him every day into his law practice.

At Home: Jon is happily married to his wife Leanne, who have two young daughters together: Ayva and Henley. Jon and Leanne are also expecting another child very soon! Like Dave and Dick, Jon also enjoys riding motorcycles but has recently become a Jeep fanatic so that he and his family can enjoy open-air rides during the warmer months in Michigan. Jon and his family also enjoy all of the enrichment opportunities West Michigan has to offer, like John Ball Zoo, museums, Frederick Meijer Gardens, ArtPrize, and the various concerts and sporting events in town. Outside of family time, Jon’s hobbies include shooting sports, water sports, golfing, biking, and four-wheeling.
